Sailing logbook on the web, Garmin app now in the store

The logbook that keeps itself.

You enter voyages and legs on the web. Recording with "Cast off" on the watch is now available for Garmin in the Connect IQ Store, other watches and the phone follow soon. Knotlog keeps nautical miles, harbours, crew and photos in one place. The proof for charter companies and licences comes as a PDF.

How it works

Two buttons on board. The rest in harbour.

1
Cast off

One press on the Garmin watch, then Knotlog counts nautical miles and notes the weather. Without a watch you enter the voyage on the web, the phone follows soon.

2
Moored

One press in harbour or at anchor, and Knotlog recognises the harbour and closes the leg. Without a watch you add harbours and legs on the web.

3
Add

Crew, photos, a line of notes. That is the log entry.

No Garmin watch? The web logbook works without one: enter voyages and legs there by hand. Tell me when more watch apps open

On your watch

One glance, one press. This is what it looks like on your wrist.

  • Garmin watch showing the start screen: leg 3, wind 2 Bft from the south, sunset 16:51 and the "Leinen los" (cast off) button.

Start: "Cast off" with wind and sunset

  • Garmin watch during a leg: 18.4 nautical miles, 5.6 knots, 3:12 hours, course 245 degrees, a sailing boat above the log line.

Under way: nautical miles, speed and course at a glance

  • Garmin watch after mooring: second harbour, 53 minutes in harbour, 18.4 nautical miles in 3:42 hours.

Moored: one press in harbour closes the leg

  • Garmin watch showing the summary: leg saved, 18.4 nautical miles, 3:42 hours, 2 harbours, waiting for connection.

Leg saved, the rest follows on the web

  • Garmin watch in night mode with dimmed red-orange colours: voyage, leg 3, 18.4 nautical miles, course 245 degrees.

Night mode: dimmed red-orange, no glare on watch

  • Garmin watchface showing 07:58, wind west 14 to 19 knots, a tide curve with high water 09:17, pressure 1012 and sun 11:18.

Watchface: time, wind, tide, pressure and sun

For charter and licences

Your nautical miles, in black and white.

Charter companies ask for experience, and licences ask for logged miles. Knotlog turns your voyages into a proof: legs, role on board, night hours, grouped by skipper, with a signature line for each skipper.

Knotlog is not a navigation app and does not replace the ship's official log. It fills in what you would otherwise copy by hand.

Knotlog

Mileage proof 2026

Not an official logbook. This proof summarises entries from a private logbook. It does not replace the ship's official log.

Private

Your anchorage stays yours.

  • No live position. Nobody sees where your boat is right now.
  • Photos without location. Knotlog strips GPS and camera data from every picture on upload.
  • Crew names only with consent on the proof. Otherwise it just says "Crew".
  • Export and delete at any time, without Premium.
